Julia Wilmot

Julia knew she would be an artist from the moment she could hold a paintbrush. During her primary school years, she spent hours using how-to-draw books on the floor or painting with her older brother to expand her fine motor and creative skills. As she matured, artistic advancement became a priority, spending hours of after-school time doing theatre or participating in other artistic activities. Julia won multiple awards and honors throughout grade school, including acceptance into the National Art Honor Society and International Thespian Society, a Best Photo award for the Pennsylvania Apple Harvest Festival, Best in Show for a handmade dress at the York Fair, and 1st place for a sculpture in a contest for the American Heart Association. 

Julia holds a BFA in Studio Arts with concentrations in Painting, Ceramics, and Photography from Houghton University. After graduating, Julia spent some time working for a professor in his ceramics studio and gallery, taught art basics for children, and helped run a book bindery. Sticking to one medium proved to be a challenge for her. 

Now back at her home base in Hanover, Pennsylvania, Julia is focusing on using acrylic on canvas, she has been spending much of her time creating large skyscapes with fantasy elements, creating dichotomies of power in each work. She also has other works, in a variety of media, in several group shows across southern Pennsylvania.
